Spreading the Licorice Love
Some of you may remember that Licorice went off to “breeding camp” last summer. Some very nice people in Duvall, with two mini Highland ladies, wanted calves, so Licorice went to their farm for a month to breed with their heifers, Daisy and Ember.
I received an update from them over the weekend that two healthy Licorice calves were born on their farm. Daisy had a tiny bull calf they named Stamen and Ember had a little heifer calf named flame.
We are anxiously awaiting our 2024 Licorice calves here on the farm. Blossom and Maple are both confirmed pregnant and we should have two new tiny Highlands this summer.
Brooks has been retained as he was too special not to be a forever resident of Black Horse Farm. Nelson has gone to his new family and they are having so much fun with him. He has made friends with the goats and has three children who adore him.
Breeding these amazing cows has been a labor of love and a very rewarding endeavor.
Stay tuned for the adorable 2024 calves coming soon.
