Happy Birthday to our boy Brooks

Birthdays are cause for celebration here on the farm.  The horses celebrate with a pop tart, the dogs get doggie gelato and for Brooks, I made him a strawberry shortcake.  I wasn’t sure if he would like it, but he loved it.  My Brooksie boy is special since he was the first calf born from our mini highland breeding program.  I was blessed to witness his birth and bonded with him immediately.  Our bond was so strong that when the buyer who had a deposit on him changed the direction they were going with cows, I gladly refunded their money so he could stay on the farm with me for good. Our dear friend Jessica Farren of Jessica Farren Photography was sweet enough to come and memorialize his very first birthday with some photos.  Brooks wore his birthday hat like a champ and even enjoyed his balloon.  Funny story about the balloon…..Hubby and I were at Dollar Tree getting balloons for a real estate event earlier in the week.  We were in line with 8 star shaped balloons and one that said happy birthday.  I told the girl checking us out “we have 9 balloons total”.  The lady behind me says “oh is someone turning 9?” to which I replied “No, but my cow is turning 1”.  Needless to say she giggled and thought that was great. A great big Happy Birthday to Brooks who turned one today.
