Give Me Liberty!!
Last week, Black Horse Farm had the incredible opportunity to host the extraordinary Syliva Zerbini of Grande Liberte Farm for private liberty instruction. Sylvia is a ninth-generation circus artist who traveled the world as a Cavalia and Ringling Circus star performing for over 10 million spellbound fans before setting into her Florida farm.
We were honored to have her join us from Florida to share her magic of communicating with horses in the art of equine liberty.
We have talked before about what liberty training is. Liberty training is a method of groundwork with horses that builds trust, connection, and communication without using force or tack to control your horse's movements. Instead, body language and voice commands replace lead ropes, bits, and a rider's leg.
The horse or horses choose to connect and respond, which is a powerful bond. The horse shows the ultimate respect and trust in following commands when he can walk or trot away.
Our Galahad, Eros, and Zeus Liberty team train with Juliette Cimetiere twice weekly and have been doing public performances for the past few years. Having Syliva work with the boys and Juliette gave a professional’s view of what areas needed work and what things were already tuned in with the team. It was clear that Juliette has done an excellent job training and performing with them and with some pointers and direction from Syliva, we hope to have even more focused and even better performances to come.
Don’t forget you can come see the Black Horse Farm Liberty team perform at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe as part of the Draft Horse Extravaganza show on August 27th and 29th. Hope to see you there.
