Friesians at The Fair
The Black Horse Farm Liberty Team had the honor of performing two nights at the Evergreen State Fair closing out the Draft Horse Extravaganza show. This was the boys first time performing at the fair, and they handled the new environment and the crowds like the pros they are becoming.
It's such a pleasure performing for local crowds and always such a treat when we see familiar faces in the crowd. The boys did a short teaser performance while the draft horse hitches did their change out and then a 30-minute featured performance to close out the show. We were able to give the crowds a little background on what liberty training is and a bit of info on each of the horses and their trainer Juliette before we put everything together with a musical performance. The crowds loved watching the boys perform, but the highlight for most was coming back to the barn after to meet the horses and take photos with our gorgeous steeds. If I have to be honest, I think the meet and greet is the boys' favorite part as well. Galahad, Eros, and Zeus absolutely love the attention from their fans and will stand for hours to be adored and admired.
The weather was challenging on the final day we were at the fairgrounds. Thunder, lightning, and heavy rain rolled in after having a 90-degree day the prior day. The lightning took out the sound system for the arena so our first appearance of the evening, the boys had to perform with no music but thankfully the audio system was restored for the final act.
The Draft Horse Extravaganza was a great experience for both hoses and humans. Hope to see you all next year.
