Cash with proud mama Maple

I woke up this morning to a little black bull calf lying beside his mama, Maple. Maple always seems to keep us waiting, but she did a great job delivering and did not need any assistance from us.  I have named both our previous calves after country western singers and have continued that tradition, naming this little boy Cash.  Cash is for Johnny Cash - the man in Black.

Beautiful boy strong and healthy - just hours old

 I am always so humbled by how respectful the rest of the herd is to mom and her new baby.  The other cows give little cash space to explore and bond with mom yet stay close enough to provide support.  Licorice is a proud papa.  This is his 3rd calf for Black Horse Farm and 5th calf in the last 2 years.  We will now look forward to Blossom's impending calf to round out the herd for 2024.
