IT’S A DOGS LIFE
Meet Finn, Liam, and Keeva
While the Friesians, cows, and poultry have a prominent place on the website, it would be a shame if you didn’t get to learn about some of the other amazing animals that share our lives. I may be biased but I think I have the best dogs on the planet. Finn is our coming 6-year-old Golden Irish (half Irish Setter and half Golden Retriever), Liam is an Irish Setter that will be 5 this October and his mom Keeva is going on 7 and joined our family when she retired from breeding in early 2022. These dogs are the most joyful animals on the farm. They are as loyal as they are beautiful and are always up for an adventure. I am fortunate to be able to take them along with me during the day and we always manage to fit in a trip to the off-leash park between work appointments for some fun and exercise.
We have met so many incredible people because of these dogs. From Liam and Keeva’s breeders to many other families who have also been blessed with their dogs. We turn a lot of heads when we meet up with our group of gorgeous red dogs. From Marymoor off-leash park to Double Bluffs off-leash beach on Whidbey Island, to hiking in the Cascade foothills. I’m really not sure who has more fun when we all get together…. the humans or the pups. I don’t know if there is ever an outing where I don’t hear “I haven’t seen an Irish Setter in ages. We used to have on growing up” or “There was an Irish Setter next door when I was a kid”. I am so head over heels in love with this breed and I honestly think I will always have a least one of these redheads in my life. They bring so much love, laughter, and joy.
Most of you know I have been in real estate sales/marketing for over 30 years., I have had lots of fun including my dogs in marketing homes the last few years. I have partnered with a marketing professional who is up for “out of the box” campaigns and the dogs have been front and center.
While I wholeheartedly recommend the Irish Setter breed, they are also a breed that needs copious amounts of human interaction and would not do well left alone for long stretches nor would they make a good “outdoor” dog. They have so much love to give and want to be with their people as much as possible. They have a reputation for being high-energy and maybe even “crazy” but I have found that with structured exercise and mental stimulation, they are pretty much the perfect dog. (for us anyway).
